Family Forensic Services of Florida is a sustainable, non-profit funded training program for doctoral level psychology trainees who are committed to positively impacting their communities. FFS clinicians provide free therapy to children and families referred for intervention by the Courts.

Doctoral Training Program

Doctoral level psychology trainees receive specialized training in forensic and child psychology, while providing direct clinical services to clients. Family Forensic Services of Florida is a practicum site for doctoral psychology students attending local universities in South Florida. Our trainees receive invaluable experience while practicing under the supervision of qualified and licensed psychologists.

Meet the Team

Dr. Malissa Tigges

Clinical Training Director

Dr. Malissa Tigges graduated from Albizu University with a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She is a Forensic Psychologist by training who provides clinical evaluations for the Courts and private law offices. Dr. Tigges offers regular consultation as an expert witness in the areas of child abuse and neglect, custody disputes, estrangement and parental alienation, risk assessments, and sentence mitigation. She is also a skilled psychotherapist and Guardian ad Litem, with extensive experience working with high-conflict and on high-profile cases. Her former work includes investigations for Child Protective Services in Texas and teaching in the Miami-Dade County Public School District. She completed her APA Accredited Doctoral Internship at the Florida Department of Corrections and her Post-Doctoral Residency at the Palm Beach County Youth Services Department. Dr. Tigges is the Owner and Director of Clinical Training (DCT) of Family Forensic Services. She also co-owns and is the DCT at a private forensic mental health practice in Miami called Alliance for Psychological Services. In her spare time, she enjoys going on adventures with her family and serving on the Advisory Board of KidSide, Miami.

Eboni Barrow, M.S.

Doctoral Trainee

Eboni Barrow is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology Trainee at Albizu University. She is an advanced second-year practicum student at FamilyForensic Services. She received her Master of Science degree in Forensic Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in 2018. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Social Science at the University of South Florida in 2016. She has many years of experience working with Court-referred clients, law enforcement agencies, and in the child welfare industry, collectively. She has been a volunteer Mentor for the Broward County PublicSchools -Take Stock in Children Program and has also been appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem for the 17th Judicial Court. In her spare time, Eboni enjoys playing tennis, blogging, and spending time with her family.

Brielle Barbagello, M.S.

Doctoral Trainee

Brielle Barbagello is currently in the process of completing her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Albizu University in Doral, FL. She graduated from Stockton University in Galloway, NJ in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a concentration in Mental Health. She earned a Master of Science degree from Albizu University in 2021 in General Psychology. She has experience in community mental health and forensic settings and would like to specialize in treating adults seeking individual therapy.

Krystell Leonor

Doctoral Trainee

Krystell Leonor graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a minor in Criminal Justice, and a Pre-Law Certificate. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. Krystell has received clinical training in providing therapeutic services to clients and administers psycho educational assessments for diagnostic and gifted placement purposes. Krystell is currently employed at a forensic private practice where she receives additional training by observing, translating, and providing orientations for therapeutic services and assessments. Krystell's current research interests include the assessment of recidivism risk, cultural biases within assessments, and eyewitness testimony. In her spare time, she enjoys watching crime documentaries and spending time with friends and family.
